I have a BA in Communic...Hey there algabarfuentes,

I have a BA in Communication and an MA in Mass Communication/Journalism, so I know where you come from. I currently work in the corporate communication department of a Fortune 40 company, which is cool. I get paid pretty well and do things that I definitely enjoy. Some parts of the job are frustrating, like any job, but mainly it's pretty decent. I work on the internal communication side, which means that I do a lot of writing, editing and web site content creating/managing for employees.

It's kind of a sell-out job, since I work basically to advance the motives of a company that obviously wants to satisfy its stockholders above all else, but we've all got to pay the bills.

There are many companies out there in need of folks who are skilled communicaters, especially with all the "social media" that is coming out right now. But there are also places in non-profit organizations for folks like you too, and NPs love youthful communication majors with good grades and skills. Try to find journalism/PR/communication internships around you and meet other professionals who do what you do. The nice thing about communication majors is that we're all pretty personable. If you're interested in internal communication, go to ragan.com (it's like THE resource for internal communicators, and they do a pretty good job and don't take themselves too seriously). You can find lots of info on comm jobs there, and internships that are available as well.planespottinghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16800798917313317700noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5169849407979145898.post-86352421632423306782009-07-07T14:44:36.632-07:002009-07-07T14:44:36.632-07:00P.S. The courses I take are unchallenging in every way. So far I've only learned things like why Orson Welles's us of deep-focus was so revolutionary or why websites like H-date.com exist. Fuck, there's even a website about blogs, where if I wanted to I could get college credit for reading this blog and writing responses. I'd like to switch majors, but its so easy I can drink all I want and still do fine, plus Communication is in one of the state subsidized schools, so as a resident of New York my tuition is absurdly cheap. I would've liked to go to Northwestern for journalism but they wouldn't have me. Cornell was the best school I got into, and even though they have no Journalism program, I figured Communication was the next best thing. Turns out its not. Communication isn't all bad, there are many good looking girls in my classes, and its easy to beat the mean when you're taking an exam next to the 7 ft tall oaf on the basketball team, so I'll probably stick it out to graduation. The only thing is I have no idea where I'll go with the degree once I graduate. Everyone else seems content with PR, Marketing or Advertising jobs, but that's not at all what I want to do. I'm not looking to be the douche you described. As someone with a similar field of study, what advice do you have for someone that will be looking for a job with a degree in Communication?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5169849407979145898.post-29213927138515471102009-07-07T13:35:55.526-07:002009-07-07T13:35:55.526-07:00Dear Mr. Kelly

The other day my fiance was beyond drunk and made out wiith my buddies wife while he was there watching. (all three were drunk, but was told my friend was not involved) they did this behind my back, and it seemed no one was going to tell me until we (me and my fiance) started arguing and she let it out. (2 days later that is.) So i'm all for watching two chicks make out and going the distance, but I feel cheated on when it's my fiance and behind my back. Any thoughts or suggestions. By the way she has done this before, and said it would never happen again. She's liar that's for sure.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5169849407979145898.post-24326988402819357932009-07-07T12:47:09.403-07:002009-07-07T12:47:09.403-07:00MattRamone speaks the truth.MattRamone speaks the truth.Gautham Ganesanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09787423366576859463noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5169849407979145898.post-47648651662546466672009-07-07T12:21:39.448-07:002009-07-07T12:21:39.448-07:00You might like this site Brendan:

Reminds me of a cookout I went to, where my friend's 2 y/o was in charge of delivering brews from the cooler, on command. It was totally sweet until he took a bottle and ate shit on the flagstones, breaking it. Not a scratch on him, miraculously, and the look on his face of "where the fuck did the beer go?!" was priceless. Never shed a tear, just total confusion. Good story. Nice rant about the press, too.
